When we honor our creative voice, we align. For our creative voice is the purest expression of our soul. I spent the first 35 years of my life not really identifying as a creative person. And therefore not creating the conditions in my life to tap into the deep well of creativity that existed within me. Instead, I plugged myself into the system of brand names, secondary degrees, and corporate ladders, like a good elder Millennial.
But then I got fired and my slow tumble off the path of should began. What I’ve ultimately realized is that I’m deeply creative. We all are, in our own way. We each have a set of gifts we’re here to activate and contribute. When we honor these gifts and use them to construct our approach to work and life, we align. Life feels sparkly, energizing, joyful. We feel lit up because we’re honoring ourselves.
If you feel gray, if work or life feels off, it’s because you’re sacrificing the creative longings of your soul in the name of something, probably fear dressed up as responsibility. As Rick Rubin says, “we’re creative beings in a creative universe.” You need to create to align.
This is where The Magician comes in.
I’m obsessed with the symbolism of this card because it very clearly communicates not only what’s possible when you honor your creative voice, but what you need to do in order to honor it.
